ANNUAL REAL ESTATE TAX SALE

Washington County Treasurer Natalie Lynch and Washington County Clerk Shari Hempen conducted the delinquent Real Estate Tax Sale for Washington County on Friday, January 10, 2025 at the Washington County Courthouse.

There were 109 parcels offered at the Tax Sale with 71 parcels selling for a total dollar amount of $95,711.92.  The 38 parcels that did not sell went to Washington County Trustee, Joseph E. Meyer and Assoc., agent for the County.

There were 13 tax buyers participating.  The top five buyers were Raven Securities, Inc., Belleville, IL buying 28 parcels for $59,904.02; RR Securities., Teutopolis, IL buying 9 parcels for $12,278.51; Sabre Ventures, LLC, Carbondale, IL buying 6 parcels for $8,501.31; Sabre Investments, LLC., Carbondale, IL buying 4 parcels for $5,357.42; and William Groome, Xenia, IL buying 11 parcel for $4,010.93.

**If your taxes were sold at the tax sale, you must now contact the Washington County Clerk’s Office to pay/redeem them.  Please call 618-327-4800, ext 138 for information on redeeming taxes.

Real Estate Tax Information

When searching for your parcel, please enter the parcel/PIN number, (without dashes) or by name only! Do not fill in other fields!

Payment of Real Estate taxes may be made online, by mail, in office, or placed in the County drop box. The drop box is located at the south entrance to the courthouse on E. St. Louis Street.

• If you wish to receive at receipt, be sure to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
• Do not mail in cash payments or make cash payments in the drop box.
• No partial payments are accepted.
• Payment is void if check or card fails to clear.

Please be sure to include the proper payment stubs with your payment.

• Stub 1-First Installment
• Stub 2-Second Installment
• Stubs 1 & 2 to pay both installments at one time

Each installment must be paid by the due dates printed on the stubs or a 1 1/2% penalty per month will apply! Interest increase amounts and dates are on the stubs for your convenience.

Mobile Home Tax Information

The Treasurer’s Office mails Mobile Home tax bills to owners in April with a due date of June 30 of the current year. Mobile Home bills are not available online, and cannot be paid online. Payment of Mobile Home taxes may be made by mail, in office, or using the County drop box. Failure to pay the bill will result in a penalty of $25.00 per month, not to exceed $100.00. Unpaid taxes will result in a lien filed on the mobile home at the end of the calendar year.

2024 PLAT BOOKS

The 2024 Plat Book is here!  Books are currently available for purchase in the Washington County Treasurer’s Office.  The cost is $30.00 each if purchased in our office.  Plat books can be shipped to you for an extra charge of $4.00 for one book, $5.00 for two books.  Contact our office at the above phone number for shipping costs on more that two books.  Payment and shipping costs must be received in our office before a plat book will be mailed to you.  Checks should be made to the Washington County Treasurer.
