News Release

August 31, 2022

The Washington County Treasurer’s Office mailed the 2021 payable 2022 Real Estate Tax bills on August 31, 2022.  The total amount of tax to collect is $27,550,448.82.

The first installment of taxes is due on October 14, 2022 and the second installment is due on November 14, 2022.  To avoid late penalty charges, your tax bill must be paid by each due date.  The installment due dates will be enforced.  Postmarks on mailed payments will be honored.

The last day to pay with a personal or business check is Tuesday, December 9, 2022.  After that date, only cash, bank cashier’s check, or money order will be accepted.

The delinquent tax sale will be held on Friday, January 27, 2023.

We encourage you to make your payment(s) by mail, online, or by using the payment drop box located near the south entrance of the courthouse (do not place cash in the drop box).  If you with to receive a receipt, be sure to include a stamped self-addressed envelope.  If you wish to pay in person, please bring your bill and/or the appropriate stubs with your payment.  Please be aware that we will make every effort to accommodate everyone as quickly as possible.  If you have questions or concerns about your bill, please call our office at (618) 327-4800, ext. 315.

News Release

April 12, 2021

The Washington County Treasurer’s Office sent out the 2021 Mobile Home Tax bill on April 12, 2021. One-hundred forty tax bills have been sent out, totaling $11,574.78.

The due date for the Mobile Home Taxes is Wednesday, June 30, 2021. Failure to pay the bill will result in a penalty of $25.00 per month, not to exceed $100.00. Unpaid taxes will result in a lien being filed on the property. lf you are responsible for payment and do not receive a bill, please contact the Treasurer’s Office to obtain a copy of the bill. Failure to receive a tax bill will not relieve you from paying taxes or late penalties.

Covid-19 distancing restrictions are in place in the Treasurer’s office at this time. If you wish to pay your bill in person, please know that the office is limited to one customer at a time, and you will be subject to Covid-19 safety procedures in place (wearing a mask, temperature check, etc.) You are encouraged to use the drop box located outside the south entrance to the Courthouse on East St. Louis Street, or to mail in your payment. When doing either, please include the payment stub at the bottom of the tax bill. Check, cashier’s check, money order or cash are acceptable forms of payment. However, please do not put cash in the mail or in the drop box.

When searching for your parcel, please enter the parcel/PIN number, (without dashes) or by name only! Do not fill in other fields!

Payment of Real Estate taxes may be made online, by mail, in office, or placed in the County drop box. The drop box is located at the south entrance to the courthouse on E. St. Louis Street.

  • If you wish to receive at receipt, be sure to include a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
  • Do not mail in cash payments or make cash payments in the drop box.
  • No partial payments are accepted.
  • Payment is void if check or card fails to clear.

Please be sure to include the proper payment stubs with your payment.

  • Stub 1-First Installment
  • Stub 2-Second Installment
  • Stubs 1 & 2 to pay both installments at one time

Each installment must be paid by the due dates printed on the stubs or a 1 1/2% penalty per month will apply! Interest increase amounts and dates are on the stubs for your convenience.

Mobile Home Tax Information

The Treasurer’s Office mails Mobile Home tax bills to owners in April with a due date of June 30 of the current year. Mobile Home bills are not available online, and cannot be paid online. Payment of Mobile Home taxes may be made by mail, in office, or using the County drop box. Failure to pay the bill will result in a penalty of $25.00 per month, not to exceed $100.00. Unpaid taxes will result in a lien filed on the mobile home at the end of the calendar year.

  • If you wish to receive at receipt, be sure to include a stamped, self-addressed
    envelope.
  • Do not mail in cash payments or make cash payments in the drop box.
  • No partial payments are accepted.
  • Payment is void if check or card fails to clear.
